June is almost over, so it’s probably a little late to share my May with you guys! Better late than never, right!? Anyways, May was another busy month for me! So busy, that it’s almost all a blur now.
I’ll get started with the fun stuff first!
May was the month I made the most money from my blog to date! My grand total was $925. To quote my mom, I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon but it’s so rewarding to earn money doing something you love! Blogging full-time might be a pipe dream for now, but I’m committed to improving and growing my little corner of the internet.
So, how did I do it? By sharing relevant links within posts, collaborating with awesome brands (like The Good Cards), and working on a social media influencer campaign. The social media influencer campaign was the bulk of my earnings ($600), so my blog income probably won’t be as high next month.
May was the month where I
finally made friends in Washington! If you’ve been following my blog, you know I moved to the Pacific Northwest in September. It’s been a tough transition, especially since I work from home and haven’t had the chance to meet a lot of new people.
I feel like I should have some negatives to report, but surprisingly I don’t. The only thing that was kind of a drag was downloading the Mint app and realizing that I spend way too much money eating out.
I’ve been budgeting in hopes of saving more money for travel. It was kind of alarming to see how much money I waste on random crap and I’m working on changing my ways.
Where I Went
At the beginning of the month, I visited the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, WA. I think the pictures speak for themselves. If you’re in the Seattle area, it’s worth the drive! Be sure to check out La Conner for lunch, if you go!
Lucas and I went camping in North Cascades National Park for the second time. You can read about the first time here. Our campground (Bayview) was brand new and we were the first to ever use our spot! The loop had awesome peek-a-boo views of Baker Lake, which is a beautiful turquoise color thanks to the nearby glaciers.
I used to hate camping but we had lots of fun hiking and making s’mores. Everything was wonderful until our fun was briefly interrupted by a coyote. Have you ever heard them howl? It sounded like a siren and was one of the most bizarre animal cries I’ve heard. Fortunately, the coyote seemed just as scared of us as we were of him and scampered off. Hopefully that was our first and last coyote encounter!
At the end of May, I visited Albuquerque for a business trip. I usually work remotely but my job requires some occasional travel. Usually it’s to super glamorous places like Ohio, Indiana, or Pennsylvania (lucky me). So, New Mexico was a nice change.
New Mexico may not sound cool to some, but I had been interested in visiting for a while. I checked out Albuquerque Old Town and the Sandia Peak Tramway. Both were beautiful, especially the mountain views from the tram. I sampled some of the blue meth
candy featured on Breaking Bad from The Candy Lady as well.
It looks like I will be returning to New Mexico soon. I didn’t have time to visit Santa Fe on my last trip, but I’m going to make it my mission to visit this time!
My sister is coming to visit me in Washington soon! It will be her first time visiting the Pacific Northwest, so I’m stoked to show her around. Lucas and I are planning some more camping trips as well. Some places on our list include Crater Lake, Olympic National Park, and Moran State Park on Orcas Island.
Last week, we visited Victoria, BC. Hotel Zed hooked us up with two nights in their decked-out Airstream trailer, which I can’t wait to share with you guys! So, expect more Victoria posts soon!
My next big trip will be to Eastern Europe in August, so I’ve been scouring Instagram and Pinterest working on the perfect itinerary! Any suggestions?
