Earlier this week, I read a story about a New York couple who wanted to experience living in all of their favorite NYC neighborhoods. Thanks to Airbnb they were able to do so! Another wanderlust-inducing story is the journey of this adorable retired couple, who used Airbnb to rent out their house while using Airbnb themselves to travel the world.
Everyone seems to love Airbnb and what’s not to love? It’s usually more economical and personal than staying in a hotel, and you have the opportunity to live more like a local would. Whenever I’m abroad, even if I’m staying in a hotel, I love perusing the local markets and grocery stores. So, I always love renting an Airbnb with a kitchen at least
pretend try to cook like a local!
I’ve always had a sort of secret obsession with Airbnb. One of my favorite Instagram accounts is one that profiles quirky Airbnb listings around the world. I love making lists of places I would like to stay using their Wish List feature. My dream listings range from a glass cabin in Montana to an oceanside cabana in Nicaragua, and everywhere in between. Airbnb has their own selection of unique picks as well.
Since I’m starting a post-grad program in January, it seems unlikely that I’ll be able to stay in any of these dream listings anytime soon (though I do have exciting plans for December!) So, instead of sharing a list of my dream accommodation here, I decided to share my favorite Airbnb stays this year, which were all pretty dreamy, if I may say so myself 😉

My only regret is that I haven’t tried renting a room with locals instead of a private apartment. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this from other travelers, so I’m not sure I’ll be trying it anytime soon!
Why do you love (or hate) Airbnb? What was your favorite experience to date?
